The Pursuit
Like fragments in a whirlpool,
The government's expectations swirl through our minds;
Burying our conscience under a meaningless mountain of rubble;
Hiding who we are meant to be.
We scream for help,
But they smother our cries.
Restraining us to the point where we become blind puppies,
Following them.
They find means to make it seem
As though we enjoy being unaware.
We are convinced by our minds
That we are content.
The government suppresses our psyche
So that we do not see the reality of them controlling us.
Knowing not how to break the hold they have on us;
We continue living our lives the way they want us to live them.
What the government does not want us to know,
A select few will discover.
Although they believed the path would be clear,
They have found it to be a road with many obstacles that needs repair.
Pretending that they know what they are doing;
They continue the pursuit of perfection.
But perhaps they will find,
That we left perfection behind years ago.
